Folate can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency, so if you are over 50, follow a vegan diet, or take metformin or a stomach acid reducing medicine, have your B12 checked before taking folate long term. This is the higher strength of the two folate products in the range, so take one capsule daily and no more, and take account of any other folate or multivitamin containing supplement you use. Folate interacts with methotrexate, some anti-epileptic medicines and sulfasalazine, so speak to your doctor before use if you take any of those or any other prescription medication. Magnesium may have a laxative effect in some people. If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, speak to your doctor or midwife about the right folate product and dose for you.
